How to configure email clients for your hosted email Outlook
Here are the steps to configure Microsoft Outlook for your hosted email with dotCanada.com:
- Open Outlook and go to File > Info > Add Account.
- Enter your full email address (e.g. you@yourdomain.com) and click Connect.
- Outlook will try to automatically configure your account. If prompted for more settings: • For incoming mail server, enter: mail.yourdomain.com • For outgoing (SMTP) server, enter: mail.yourdomain.com • Check the box for "Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)"
- Enter your full email address as the Username and your email password.
- Click Next and Outlook should successfully configure your dotCanada.com hosted email account.
For best results with dotCanada.com email hosting, we recommend the following Outlook settings:
• Use IMAP for syncing email, contacts, calendars across devices
• Enable Send/Receive Groups to control how frequently Outlook checks for new mail
• Configure Send/Receive Settings to check for new messages every 30 minutes
